The first project I would like to show is the mod I'm currently working on for Unreal Tournament 3, called Prometheus. It is a single player cooperative puzzle game featuring a gameplay mechanic seen in some Flash games and side scrollers, but never used in an FPS game until now. The premise is that you play through a level with a set time limit, and when time runs out the game "rewinds" and lets you play it again while your previous self runs through performing the same actions you did the first time around. In Prometheus you're able to run through the level five times, using each time through to cooperate with yourself to solve puzzles.

The following video is one of the levels from the mod, called Overload. In the video the first four numbered doors are hooked to switches that only allow one door to be open at a time. The player must use their first run through to time the doors and anticipate where they are going to be next time so that they don't trap themselves. The fifth door requires the player to stand at two switches at the same time to get through the door. Finally, at the elevator the player must make sure they give their next self time to get on the lift before activating the switch.

For the first release of Prometheus in October 2008 I was responsible for all of the programming, including the gameplay, HUD and level scripting. I also did the level design and environment art using stock textures and static meshes.

This next project is a level I created for Unreal Tournament 2004 called Reconstruct, which won second place for Best Level With Original Content in phase 3 of the Make Something Unreal Contest. It uses a unique gameplay mechanic where walls and floors form together when you approach them, turning seemingly bottomless pits into walkways, and allowing the player to use sections of wall to defend themselves from attack or provide an opening to retaliate.

The level uses mostly stock textures, but 100% custom static meshes for the geometry created by me in 3D Studio Max.

Cannon Fodder 2 has the gameplay twist of requiring the players to use giant cannons to shoot themselves into the enemy base, the unique part of it being that the cannons shoot you down, and the wind pushes you back up toward the other side. This level also uses 100% custom static meshes created in 3D Studio Max.

As another demonstration of a project where I was a programmer as well as a designer, I would like to show the Holocator. It is a mutator I created for Unreal Tournament 2004 which allows the player to shoot three beacons that duplicate the player's appearance and movement to confuse opponents. Most of the code for this was pretty straightforward, the difficulty came in synchronizing the player and beacon animations, and getting it to function properly online including different team colors and custom characters.
