Description
When I first started level design for Half-Life, I made a series of single player levels called "Nut-House". In it the player wandered through a mental institution while crazy things happened to the scientists around them, such as getting sucked up a tube into the ceiling. In one room a stereo slid out of the wall and zombies popped out of the floor sitting in chairs spazzing out to Rob Zombie's "Dragula". This was not a very sane place.
The second level in the series took place outside in the Scientist Target Range. Right next to the building was an automatically reloading scientist cannon, and at the far end of the field was a huge dartboard. You could press a button and launch the scientists head first into the target, and examine them from a catwalk to total your score.
When I started editing for Unreal Tournament I wanted to make a level similar to that, a capture the flag level where players used cannons to get from base to base.
